I’ve been to Las Vegas on business and pleasure for many years I think its only right that I record some of the occasions (they say what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas) well maybe not. First Vegas shows, the Beatles LOVE show certainly made a lasting impression on me so much so I opened a tea shop in Gozo called the Divine LOVE tea shop. I took family there to see in the new millennium 2000. But most of all I worked there and that’s were I had my baptism of fire in sin city.
Working in Vegas was fun but hard work, I remember my 1st exhibition when I went to work on the Turtle Wax stand, I took a black suit for the day and casual clothes for the evening. After the 1st day the US guys asked me to go out on the town I didn’t have time to change, we went to dinner, a show and then to Glitter Gulch. I’d never seen anything like this before we walked in and the place was packed with women all scantily clad. I stood back not knowing what to do. The next moment a tap on my shoulder, “Hi are you John” err yes, well I’ve come to give you a private dance. Err no you’re OK love I’ve just arrived and am just looking. No she said those guys over there have already paid for the dance. I looked over and there were all the blokes I was with laughing and giving the thumbs up. Malcome ran over to tell me what to do, sit on your hands that way you won’t touch?
The next morning I was on the stand and people started saying well we know were you were last night, Glitter Gulch. The ladies there painted their ample bodies with glitter and tons had rubbed off over my suit, I looked like Liberace sparkling in the floodlights.
Jon Kosmoski the founder of HOK called me Basil after Basil Fawlty (he’d experienced my attitude to guests in my hotel and that hasn’t changed, in my AirBnb here in Gozo guests are asked to chillout and make yourself at home. Jon taught me about what he called a pussy brush (no comment but look at his chin).
So to continue Leigh Chalkley (my step son and father of Anya, Grandfather of Bodhi. This fine upstanding citizen stayed with me at the MGM during a couple of visits and did we have a laugh. After an afternoon drinking and (smoking) we decided to go downstairs, in the elevator was a young lady, Leigh “Hello we are going to the mezzanine floor how about you” She was kinda amused by this strange couple lol.
Since then I’ve been to SEMA many times for other companies and my own (anglo-america) I even donated a print for their silent auction and got top billing in the program. Now life has started to calm down somewhat (and not before time). But I can look back on those times with fond memories.
So a big concert is planned this month called ‘Dark side over Gozo’ I wonder if anyone has listened to the full album right at the end when it say’s “There is no dark side of the moon, as a matter of fact it’s all dark”. Hmm could this be the case for Gozo?
I think most people who visit Gozo will recognize there’s an energy here, the island attract thousands each year many come to experience the energies of the place and energy is certainly here you feel it as soon as you step off the ferry. But whilst these energies are a source for those who are looking towards goodness, peace, love and harmony, inevitably that same energy will attract those looking more towards the dark side. Gozo is steeped in history, some believe the island is the site of Atlantis, hundreds of years ago almost the entire population was captured from the Citadella were they gathered together to defend themselves but lost and sent into slavery by the Moors, the handful left on the island became very insular, who wouldn’t when most of the population had gone, it must have felt quite like those books written about the end of civilization as we know it, the end of days. Talking of books many have been written about the history of the island and its big brother Malta, (Malta is considered the male whilst Gozo is the female).
Conspiracy theorists talk about ‘The New World Order’ again many books and evidence are available for anyone interested in checking this subject out and I’d like to examine some of this evidence later, but back to Gozo.
Having lived here (Gozo) for a year now and having spent 10 years in the USA the comparisons are quite eye opening. How different these two countries are in so many ways. Of course the US was involved in slavery, but they used the slaves rather than become one. We Europeans invaded and conquered America taking the land from the indigenous population, America is a melting pot of races, colour and religion. Gozo is predominantly white and Catholic.
Gozitan’s are very secretive about their wealth yet there are said to be more billionaires here on this tiny island than that in The Swiss centre of banking, there’s no outward expression of wealth here (you’d think the average guy was ‘dirt poor’). But go into their houses and their wealth is many times quite evident. Houses that from the outside look more like a rundown garage are like palaces inside. Yet they drive around in beat up old cars (some have custom jobs in the garage though). Everything is cash, banks are avoided and tax avoidance is clearly rife. Wherever you go many places have a notice saying ‘cash only’. Compare this to the US.
In the US paying with cash is almost unheard of, the card is king. People give an outward appearance of wealth whether it’s the house they live in, the car they drive or the clothes they wear, yet many are up to their eyes in debt. Debt is what keeps the population in its place, wage slaves! Yet America so deeply in debt as a population and a country is considered the most powerful country in the world. In my travels no two places can be considered so different. You have to ask yourself does this make sense.
Well that’s where the New World Order conspiracy theories come into play.
World leaders have many times quoted the New World Order. From Churchill Nixon Bush and many more. The evidence is impelling and covers so many areas.
We are controlled by many institutions, the banks, drug companies, big Agriculture companies and even our religions. The people behind it are said to be the Rockefeller’s, the Rothschild’s and others. But how and why?
Whoever coined the phrase ‘united we stand, divided we fall’ (also the moto for Kentucky USA) was probably thinking far differently at the time and likely hadn’t considered how vulnerable the mass population would become if they all joined together under one message (one enemy is easier to tackle than many).
The United Nations was established under the premise of avoiding conflict and making the world a better place, but has it. Agenda 21 of the UN is supposed to set out the course, unfortunately these type of messages aren’t always what they seem and only individual research can open your eyes to that.
A small example of false messages is George Bush’s “No child left behind act”. What a great idea, create a framework where all children had equal opportunity, but it was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It served to indoctrinate children, tried to fit round pegs in square holes, it failed, and now more kids decide to drop out than stay in. When people have fought against this ‘one size fits all’ attitude the government (under the control of the New World Order) stepped in to quash their efforts, and it continues to be the case today. Kids in the US are more and more ‘taught to test’ they’re forced to learn what the government wants them to learn and if history doesn’t say what it wants, no problem just change the history books. You don’t pass the test, you don’t graduate, you don’t graduate, try getting a decent job! So it starts with education and making sure that our children are conditioned to believe what they want them to believe. Obey the rules or else.
“Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
Choice is becoming limited in the US there are just two main political parties diversity is lost and despite the heated exchanges that take place it’s still difficult to recognise the differences (real differences) between the two.
“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum….” – Noam Chomsky
So to religion, a very dangerous area to open up, wars are fought in the name of religion, people feel very deeply about their religion whether it’s Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc. Religion itself has in my opinion always been used to instil order, sometimes for the good but also for the bad. But even here what appears to be a good well-meant idea is in danger of being used for the benefit of a few. Take “Bahá’í which believes in the unity of all religions. They have incorporated Jesus, Moses, Muhammad, and Buddha, among others, into their teachings and practices. Bahá’í is essentially the de-facto religion of the United Nations”. On the face of it a good idea but knowing how the cartel works would it just play into their hands?
Most people are aware of the way the banks, drug companies and big Agri companies control us and there’s a wealth of information out there if you just look. So you say to yourself if this New World Order are so clever why don’t they simply get rid of the evidence. They don’t care that we know what’s happening take a quote.. “For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents such as my encounter with Castro to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure–one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.“—David Rockefeller. So is a well organised New World Order a good thing? Would it make our world a better place? WHY?
Only those few can answer that question in entirety but maybe its as simple as this. Perhaps they recognize that our earth can only support a finite population for the world to continue they need to remove what they see as the parasites that’s you and me and the billions of others that are considered unnecessary for their vision of a world that is sustainable, perhaps they are right! World population has without a doubt grown to what is becoming unsustainable, wars and pandemics help cull the herd and to some extent they have proved effective in the past but isn’t that a little like taking a sledge hammer to crack a nut? Maybe there is another way, birth control? Wow think of the current battles of the proponents and opponents to such an idea. Or maybe we have other options and those options haven’t yet arrived. Who knows we the human race may be the product of another race of aliens who felt the solution was colonizing other planets. Far-fetched? Not so long ago evidence was found in Malta and other parts of the world of aliens having been here (see elongated skulls found in Malta). Maybe it can be a combination of many things to ensure the continuation of ‘civilization’ as we know it.http://www.theearthchild.co.za/david-attenborough-says-humans-plague-earth/
I’m getting on a bit now (as the skull shows) in the autumn of my years, maybe, but I have children, and children are our future, perhaps we should set aside our differences and yes pull together to make it a better place, safer place for our children and those yet to come.
Dark side over Gozo. Not everything is black and white, not everything lasts forever, there are problems to be solved and rather than one small elite thinking they have the answer ‘The Secret’ perhaps we should use our resources and knowledge share and work towards not a New World Order but a world of LOVE. It sounds a better option to the alternative. Continue reading “The Dark Side”→
Leeds-Bradford ‘International’ Airport.
Well what a joke of a place this is. Its 2am in the morning people, are sleeping where they can, there are no food outlets open, not even a vending machine. Whoever is responsible for this place is doing Yorkshire a BIG disservice. So as I have nothing else to do while I’m sat here I may a well write this…Back a while in line with government recommendations, Leeds Bradford Airport published a master plan. However, since then the airport has been privatised and the new plans of Bridgepoint Capital deviate in areas from the masterplan. The plans that Bridgepoint Capital published were approved by Leeds City Council in July 2009, despite much criticism from protesters.
The plans were originally rejected by Leeds City Council on the grounds of further traffic generated from an enlarged airport. The revised plans included the provision of further bus services, however no commitment was made to invest in a rail or light rail link, although the plan continues to be considered. Incidentally, neither the previously proposed Leeds Super tram nor the currently proposed Leeds Trolleybus go to Leeds Bradford International Airport, although each would have a terminus a few miles away at Bodington Hall, Lawnswood.
So it’s a sell out by Leeds City Council, and all the new owners want is to make money at the public’s expense. So asking for a reason for this well I guess the most senior man we could consider responsible is William Jackson, he is after all based in London and a managing partner (http://www.bridgepoint.eu/en/our-team/william-jackson/).
You know to add insult to injury you even have to pay to get access to drop passengers off. Getting into the place is a nightmare and once you’re in OMG if it’s outside ‘normal hours’ (whatever normal hours are for an airport), then don’t forget to bring food and water, and wrap up well.
Never again will I travel via Leeds Bradford and until they sort their act out I suggest you don’t either.
We talk about Peace and Love but how do we find it?
This week has been full of surprises some good some not so good. Technology and noise have been a major distraction. I’ve had unexpected offers of money, not yet taken, only to find that a company I was working with on my blog is a scam and had been withdrawing money from my account. Money has never been of particular importance to me so long as you have enough to do the things you want is really all anyone needs. So I realised that if I just sit back and allow nature to take it’s course then things will become far less stressful.
I found a site all about forests, just watching the video made me calm and I realised it’s been such a long time since I truly submersed myself in nature. The healing forest click here is a wonderful idea and makes me want to leave right now and get into the forest. The only problem? There are no forests and very few trees here. My life right now is amazingly complex, I came to Gozo to ‘retire’ and not to get involved in something that would take even more of my time and energy. I’ve worked since I was 15 and now I’m 65 soon to be 66 that’s 50 years of work! (Now the mind may be OK but the body is very tired), so I think I should take the time to recharge these batteries. Having watched the movie ‘Healing Forest’ I think my plan to go to the ashram in Bali next year is the best idea I’ve had for a very long time.
SURE GOZO IS A LOVELY PLACE BUT CAN YOU SEE ANY TREES?
When I get to the ashram I know what to expect. I’ve spoken to the people there on Facebook and they’ve become my friends (good people). I’ve even seen inside the bamboo huts thanks to Gayle a young lady who published her video. But most of all Bali and the ashram is where I will find my Guru, my teacher, my brother and friend Prabhu. The teashop is the place (which with love and care) I believe will run easily and make a profit so..With all this why am I still here when I can find PEACE there? That’s because of LOVE.. I have to stop here until the projects I’m working on will work on their own or with very little intervention from others. I run a small teashop The LOVE teashop. That small teashop will become something important one day.
The LOVE teashop soon getting it’s new sign
This island of GOZO is full of surprises, it has good people and like anywhere else bad people, but trying to sort out the wheat from the chaff is really draining so it’s time for the young’uns to take over. I know I would have loved the challenge a few years back but now I need to GO. So Bye Bye for now..
Hi there, before we go an further I want to say it’s not me who thinks I’m crazy it’s other people. I hope and believe that’s not bad crazy, its just that I may say some crazy things, so don’t be offended. I’ve been writing blogs for a few years now, but really just for my own amusement, and to get stuff off my chest. Only yesterday I went to group meditation and our teacher agreed with me that writing helped to clear my mind and be ready to meditate. So whilst I’ve accused myself of rambling in the past, it’s been for a good reason “MY PEACE”. First of all before we start on this journey I think it would be good to know a little about your companion, (that’s me):
The Crazy Brit (OK the pictures a bit old, but I still have that shirt)
And this is my only tattoo (naughty but nice)
I describe myself as a “Christian Buddhist” on Facebook (haven’t we all got Facebook nowadays). Saying this is a religion is in itself a misnomer ‘cos I don’t accept Buddhism is a religion, and I think even “The Buddha” would agree (but we can discuss that later).
I was born a Christian, so it gets a little complicated and is too long a story as to how I found buddhism. So today is by means of my introduction and will become my one and only blog (sighs of relief). Here I will repost not only past blogs, (that I consider worthwhile), but all of my future posts. So enjoy and smile (do you know it takes fewer muscles to smile than frown). If you don’t enjoy reading these then just stop. All I would ask from you, in return for me “opening my soul” is for you tell me what YOU think because it’s only with your comments (good or bad) that I know what everyone wants. So please fill in the comments box below and any special requests you make will be answered, but no candid nude photos of me, sorry ladies, (but there’s no point making a big thing out of a little thing like that).
Today has been a great day, and I continue to learn a lot about this magical island and my village of (No I’m not saying were I live because I don’t want this peaceful village overrun by all you cheapskates). In my previous life working in Texas, the job I had was in Marketing and Public Relations, that’s where I picked up all of the tricks of manipulation and one of the reasons I left, (perhaps I’ll write about that experience in another post). But one of the things I learned was that even though I spent a lot of $s advertising on TV, Cinema, Billboards, Radio, Facebook, Direct mail etc etc. the most effective form of advertising above all else (and with no cost) was and is word of mouth (people talking). Recently I’ve experienced the benefit of talking, apart from the people I’ve been talking to being locals, one of the other bonuses (apart from one or two guys) is that all of the these people have been attractive females, (a big bonus for the Crazy Brit). But wait guys like I said to Marica at Ta’Pinu pharmacy “why is it that all the attractive females here are all accounted for” yep sadly for me they are (I hear sniggers in the background tut tut). Hell I may be crazy, but I’ve still got some fire in my belly! even though it may need kindling. Anyway today I went to see my attractive doctor (yep she’s married), and Marica (who’s engaged) told me about a fab place in Gozo to buy my tea, and what a little gem it was. Vini-e-Capricci is in the Gozitano Agricultural village and it’s packed with wonderful goodies, chocolate, the best teas, coffee, wines and lots of other things, and all in a nice relaxing setting. You’ll see what I mean when you click the link (but please come back here)
What Marica did by telling me about Vini-e-Capricci was not only help a poor crazy Brit, but it helped ‘Abraham Said’ develop his already thriving business (I hope I get a discount from Abraham when I next call in for this plug hint hint). I also realized that I could buy top quality products cheaper than I could anywhere (yep and you guessed it, I’d just placed an order in the UK over the internet for tea). I was so impressed with what they had in tea that I’m considering fulfilling a long held ambition of opening a tea shop. I almost opened a tea shop in Texas called The Crazy Brit (go figure). Over there I’d not only found the location, but I persuaded the mayor of the city (Keller), to do my ribbon cutting. In fact The Crazy Brit tea shop concept is still open on my Facebook, so I may use some of the ideas I came up with there for my tea shop if and when I open one here (if I can be bothered to get from behind my desk and do some real work). Unfortunately my now ex, in Texas has either kept or sold my collection of teapots and she refuses to enter into communication, although maybe if and when she reads this she will “reconsider her position” (name n shame).
But now the name for the Gozo tea shop.
I actually own the domain for TeaZme (no it’s not me launching a porn site, as was suggested in the US) It represents Tea Zen and Me, and is a place where customers can go and have either tea in a formal English tea shop setting, or go into the other room and enjoy the relaxation of herbal teas in a relaxed meditation area.
Fortunately I did manage to bring with me one of the dozens of teapots I used to own, and that is my “special” little chinese pot, that I only use for my special teas. I’ve plenty of other ideas and plans which I’m not telling anyone as I know with some of you lot someone will pinch ’em.So, just by talking I’ve found out a lot today.
Ray (who describes himself as a grumpy old git), has been messaging me through expat.com, and he gave me some great advice on opening a bank account. I was able to walk straight in and start the process without any problems, (and you’ll see the problems I’ve had when I repost SMILING) which will be incorporated into this blog, along with all the others, so everyone can keep track, not that I’m expecting anyone to want to, but it helps focus me, (and I do admit I can be a bit random at times).
My Texas location
However, apart from the entertainment factor of my sharp, clever, but crazy wit (such modesty), I hope my posts will help anyone embarking on a new life, just as I have. I haven’t “retired” that sounds like I’ve been put out to grass. So remember, it helps to keep talking, but it also helps to keep reading and smiling. There’s a lot more writing to follow, but I’m sure you can only take so much of my ramblings at any one time. So I’ll say goodbye for now, and hope you’ll “come up and see me sometime” (as Mae West said)….PEACE & Love x
